What night of the week is the course given on?
The massage course is given at a time that fits the schedule of all
those who want to attend. Since the classes are small, we can easily poll
the students and pick a time that works. Classes are 2 and 1/2 hours long
and we meet for 8 consecutive weeks.
There is no overt nudity in the class. This is a excellent question.
As massage professionals we are taught how to properly drape our clients
to preserve their modesty at all times. You will be taught these
same techniques that are practiced in the class.
If I am a man can I work on just women in the class?
Yes you can! This is a concern for some
men, that they do not feel comfortable with the thought of touching other
men. This is very understandable given the culture that we men have
grown up in, in the US. Please do not feel ashamed about these feelings.
I know that this discomfort can prevent some men from taking the course
so I want to assure you that the classes are balanced with men and women
and when it comes time to practice during class that you can choose whoever
you want to work with. Often these feelings pass as the course progresses.
Can I charge money for my massages after I take the class?
What you do with the skills that you gain from
the program is your business. This is not a professional course designed
to take the place of the standard 500 hour program that I used to teach
for licensing. However I am teaching the best of those hands on techniques
from those 500 hour programs. With practice you will be able to give a
great full body massage and even trade with professionals.
How many people are in the class?
Classes are kept small so that you get individual
attention. Usually 4-6 people. At that level it is similar
to private tutoring so that you learn quickly.
In every class we will cover a different part
of the body. You will then have a chance to practice the strokes that have
just been taught on someone in the class while the instructor watches.
Handouts will be provided that outline what you have just learned. You
will then go home and practice what you've just learned on family, friends
or someone from the class. At the next class we will review what
was previously taught and go on to a new part of the body. Every week you
will get worked on and work on someone. People have told me that this is
great for reducing their weekly stress, and love it.
What styles of massage will I learn in the class?
You will learn predominately Swedish massage alone
with some Shiatsu, Reflexology and Lymphatic massage. All of these are
blended into one style I call Integrative. Polarity massage will be covered
in the Advanced class.
What if I have to miss a class, can I make it up?
Generally this is not a problem as we review the
previous classes material in every susequent class and handouts are provided.
You can also get together with a class member to go over whatever you missed.
I am also available for private tutoring should the need arise.
I want to become really good at this, how can I do that?
The trick to becoming good at any tactile skill
be it playing piano or learning massage is practice, practice, practice
and then more practice. That's it! I have consistently seen
that those who do this are a lot better then those who don't. You
are requested to work on as many people as you can between classes.
You can also read books on massage and take more courses including the
Advanced course.
This course is run several times a year.
It is started whenever there is enough people to start and class.
Times are flexible.
Is there more to learn after the basic training?
Yes, as I mentioned before I am also offering
an Advanced course that is for 4 weeks and follows the Basic. The skills
taught in the Advanced course are some of my favorites and have been developed
over 15 years of practice. They are great to add to your skill set as they
are extremely effective at producing relaxation and freedom from stress
in your "clients" body.
Will this course be given online?
Yes, eventually. I am working on that right now
as we speak. As you can imagine, teaching this material over the
Internet is somewhat of a challenge. I have created some unique ways to
do that so stay tuned. If you would like to be notified when that
happens, just click on the email link below and let us know you would be
